Huntingdon remembers music legend Dr. Harald Rohlig

Huntingdon College professor of music emeritus Dr. Harald Rohlig died peacefully at his home Saturday, October 25, after a lengthy illness. He was 88. Rohlig was affiliated with Huntingdon College for more than 50 years as a professor of music, specializing in organ instruction.

Masha Hamilton coming to campus; Murder; Helping Feathers; Spooky Sounds

Journalist, novelist, literacy activist Masha Hamilton to speak at Huntingdon

Masha Hamilton, an award-winning front-line journalist, best-selling novelist, and founder of two world literacy organizations, will speak for the Huntingdon College Stallworth Lecture Series, Tuesday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m. (this represents a time change from previous announcements) in the College’s Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall. In her topic, “Women, War, and Words: Stories of Risks Worth Taking,” she will read brief selections from her novels and share stories of her experiences reporting from and working within difficult situations around the world.

International opera greats perform at Huntingdon

Internationally known opera stars who normally perform with such landmark operas as the Metropolitan in New York and the Lyric Opera of Chicago will perform for the Montgomery community at Huntingdon College in the Vann Vocal Institute Celebrity Recital, Thursday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the College’s Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall. The concert is free and open to the public and features opera greats David Cangelosi, Lori Phillips, Elizabeth Bishop, Richard Troxell, Raymond Aceto, Bettie Buccheri, Kelley Kuo and Dale Williams.

Huntingdon College students selected to Freshman Forum

Fifteen Huntingdon College freshmen have been selected to serve on the College’s Freshman Forum. In addition to serving the Class of 2018 with representation on the Student Government Association’s Student Senate, Freshman Forum members plan and organize a number of events during the academic year.

Homecoming Court presented, Queen crowned during Homecoming 2014

Huntingdon College senior Diane Humphreys of College Park, Georgia, was crowned the 2014 Homecoming Queen during halftime of the College’s Homecoming football game Saturday, October 4. Students had elected nine of their peers as representatives on the Court: two women from each of the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes and three from the senior class.
