Huntingdon prepares for Graduation Weekend

Huntingdon College final exams are underway and the campus is abuzz with activity in preparation for Graduation Weekend, May 15–16. The weekend will begin with the traditional Baccalaureate worship service, Friday, May 15, at 5:00 p.m. in Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall, for day and evening program graduates and their families. Huntingdon President J. Cameron West will preach the Baccalaureate sermon. Commencement Exercises will take place Saturday, May 16, on Top Stage on the College Green (rain location: Roland Arena in Roland Student Center), 9:00 a.m. for traditional day students and 6:00 p.m. for Evening Bachelor’s Degree students.

Julian McGuire to appear on Today Show stage

Huntingdon College senior and Montgomery native Julian McGuire will appear on at least two stages in the near future. The Class of 2015 music major and all-around musician will perform on lead guitar for the band accompanying singer Avery Wilson during his appearance on NBC’s Today Show, Friday, May 8.

Huntingdon hosts stage reading of play for New York’s Nora’s Playhouse

The Huntingdon College Leo J. Drum Jr. Theater will host a stage reading of the play, “Wash, Dry, Fold,” by Nedra Pezold Roberts, Friday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. The reading will be directed by Caroline Reddick Lawson, co-founder of New York’s Nora’s Playhouse. Admission is free; all are welcome. A talk-back with the actors, writer, and director will follow the reading.

Huntingdon Community Pops presents outdoor concert

The Huntingdon Community Pops, a musical ensemble comprised of Huntingdon students, faculty, and community musicians, will present an outdoor concert on the College Green, Tuesday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. The concert, Celebrating America 2015, is free; the public is invited to attend. Picnic blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.
