Purpose

This gathering will explore strategies for faculty and staff members who seek to help students put into practice beyond the classroom and the campus what they learn about vocation in the undergraduate setting. It will include discussions of obstacles that can arise as students pursue their callings after college—including structural and socio-economic factors, disabilities, cross-cultural challenges, and the tendency of some forms of “service” to do more harm than good. The gathering will include a visit to the renowned Legacy Museum and the Memorial for Peace and Justice.

Costs for the Gathering

For participants from NetVUE member institutions: the registration fee of $50 per person covers all conference costs, including a visit to the Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and Memorial for Peace and Justice; all meals on Friday; Saturday breakfast; and Friday night accommodations. Participants must make their own hotel reservations at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Montgomery. Participants may also stay the night of Thursday 2/20 at the special conference rate, but at their own expense.

For non-NetVUE members: the registration fee is $100 and does not include lodging. Non-members may still use the conference hotel but must pay their own lodging costs.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Doubletree Hotel in Montgomery. NetVUE will cover accommodations for Friday night for NetVUE members. Each guest will be required to have a credit card on file for incidentals. For members reserving a room for Thursday, February 20, the NetVUE rate of $139 per night will apply.
Hotel reservations must be received by 1/24/2020 in order to receive the special conference rate.
