PREVIEW DAYSaturday, September 17, 8:30 a.m.–noon; hosted by the Office of Admission, Preview Days provide time for prospective students and families to tour the campus, talk with students, eat in the dining hall, meet the faculty and staff, and learn about financial aid and scholarships.  Free for prospective students and their families. Visitors may stay for the Homecoming football game, which begins at 1:00 p.m. For reservations, complete registration online or contact the Office of Admission at (334) 833-4497 or admiss@hawks.huntingdon.edu.

HUNTINGDON MARCHING SCARLET AND GREY MARCHING HONOR BAND, Saturday, September 17; all day; bands will perform during the Huntingdon Hawks football game vs. Belhaven University at 1:00 p.m, W. James Samford Jr. Stadium. More information.

BLOUNT-SLAWSON YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION (January 27–29), final round public concert, Sunday, January 29, 1:00 p.m., Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall; learn more about the Blount-Slawson competition, a program of the Montgomery Symphony League sponsored by the Blount Foundation and the Guice Slawson family.

RHODA COLEMAN ELLISON WRITERS FESTIVAL LECTURE, featuring poet/bookmaker/artist JEN BERVIN, Thursday, February 16, 7:30 p.m., Delchamps Recital Hall, Smith Music Building; Bervin’s work has been covered in media outlets such as Huffington Post, NPR, The Nation, LA Times, Artforum, Frieze, Hyperallergic, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, and can be found in more than 30 international collections.

HUNTINGDON COLLEGE BANDS STATE BAND FESTIVAL, Friday, February 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Leo J. Drum Jr. Theater and the James W. Wilson Jr. Gymnasium in the Will and Kelly Wilson Community and Athletic Center, Cloverdale Campus. The Alabama Independent Schools Band Association (AISBA) State Band Festival will feature bands performing every half hour in this day-long annual event.

AISBA STATE HONOR BAND, Saturday, February 25, 4:30 p.m., Leo J. Drum Jr. Theater; the AISBA Honor Band is a select group of 75 band students from around the state, and will be conducted by the Huntingdon band staff, led by Eddy Williams, director of bands. Free and open to the public.

HUNTINGDON WINDS/JAZZ WINTER CONCERT, Sunday, February 26, 3:00 p.m., Leo J. Drum Jr. Theater, Cloverdale Campus; free and open to the public.

2017 MISS HUNTINGDON PAGEANT, Saturday, March 11, 7:00 p.m., Leo J. Drum Jr. Theater, Cloverdale Campus

CANCELED: HUNTINGDON HARMONY presents ROCK LEGENDS, Tuesday, March 21

10th ANNIVERSARY: VANN VOCAL INSTITUTE, Thursday–Saturday, April 6–8, Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall, and Smith Music Building’s Delchamps Recital Hall. This special event, offered in partnership with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, brings young singers from high schools and colleges across the region to Huntingdon for master class training with prominent international opera stars. A Celebrity Recital (see below) and Emerging Artists Recital (see below) are part of the events. Master classes are open to the public, as are both recitals.

VANN VOCAL INSTITUTE CELEBRITY RECITAL, Friday, April 7, 7:00 p.m., featuring performances by international opera great David Cangelosi and fellow operatic artists, Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall; offered in partnership with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra.

VANN VOCAL INSTITUTE EMERGING ARTISTS RECITAL, Saturday, April 8, 5:00 p.m., Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall; free and open to the public; performers are those selected by the master class teachers after completion of the VVI Master Class.
