Huntingdon Grads Place Second in Sing-OffMontgomery, Ala.--Huntingdon College music graduates John Martin, Class of 2009, and Mark McLemore, Class of 2010, two members of the a cappella singing group, Street Corner Symphony, made it to the final round of the popular NBC music show, "The Sing-Off," taking second place in Monday night's season finale. The Huntsville-based (Ala.) group Committed won the competition, the final round of which was decided by popular vote. The show was similar to American Idol, a competition with elimination rounds, except groups could use no musical instruments. Ten a cappella groups competed for the grand prize: $100,000 and a Sony Music recording contract. Martin and McLemore have been singing together since they met at Huntingdon in 2007. McLemore’s older brother, Jon McLemore, formed the six-man group in May solely to compete on The Sing-Off, Season 2. Photos. |
