Scott Owenby selected to receive UPS Scholarship

Huntingdon College senior Scott Owenby has been selected by the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU) 
to receive a $2400 UPS Scholarship.

Owenby is the son of Charles and Joy Owenby of Eclectic, Alabama, and a 2008 Elmore County High School graduate.  He is a senior majoring in athletic training at Huntingdon and a member of the athletic training honor society, Iota Tau. 

AAICU is a statewide association for private colleges and universities affiliated with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).  CIC has partnered with the UPS Foundation to distribute funding for the UPS Scholarship.  This year, CIC awarded $1.45 million in scholarships from its UPS Educational Endowment Fund to private institutions of higher learning across the nation, including a grant of $31,200 to AAICU.  UPS Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the achievement and financial need. Since its inception in the 1980s, the UPS fund has awarded $48 million in scholarship support to more than 16,000 students nationwide.

Huntingdon College is a coeducational liberal arts college of the United Methodist Church.  Experiencing eight consecutive years of enrollment growth, the College recently launched the Huntingdon Tomorrow campaign, a seven-year $16.5 million capital campaign.  The College Web site is
