Huntingdon Soccer Swept by Spring Hill

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Huntingdon men’s and women’s soccer team each dropped its respective decision to Spring Hill College on Sunday, as the Hawks fell 2-1, while the Lady Hawks were defeated 3-0 at the Huntingdon Soccer Field.

In the men’s contest, the Hawks (3-12) overcame an early goal by the Badgers’ (4-12) Rainer Mays and tied the score on the first goal of the season by freshman Josh Epstein in the 30th minute of the contest. Sophomore Morgan Burke assisted on the goal.

However, seven minutes later, Gable Fortune scored the eventual game-winner with a bicycle kick off of a deflection 37:01 into the contest.

Huntingdon put forth its best effort to tie the score with less than two minutes to play when senior Christian Harmon was able to get a head on cross, but the shot hit the crossbar and skipped over the goal.

Senior Andrew Smith-Parker, sophomore Dallas Thomas and freshman Stacy Terry led the Hawks with three shots each, while sophomore Jordan Osborne posted four saves in goal.

In the women’s contest, SHC’s Allison Giles scored just over two minutes into the contest and Emma Pitchford made it stand with a shutout in goal. Jade Beason and Allison Akers also added goals for the Lady Badgers (7-7-1), while freshman Jenny Burnash led the Lady Hawks (4-9-2) with nine saves in goal.

Both the Hawks and Lady Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when the men travel to LaGrange to take on the Panthers at 6 p.m., while the women will take on Wesleyan at 4 p.m. in Macon, Ga.
