Lady Hawks Tennis Announces Addition of Natasha Boyko to Coaching Staff
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon College Director of Athletics Buzz Phillips and head women’s tennis coach Ximena Moore announced on Monday the hiring of Natasha Boyko to the position of assistant women’s tennis coach.
“I think Natasha brings a great deal of knowledge to our already successful women’s tennis program,” Phillips said. “In the short time that I have known her, she has proven to be very organized and eager to help not only the women’s tennis program, but our entire athletic department. I know she will be a great addition to Coach Moore and will only add to the level of play by the Lady Hawks tennis team.”
Boyko joins the two-time defending Great South Athletic Conference Champion and NCAA Qualifying Lady Hawks after a three-year stint as a graduate assistant coach with Alabama State.
“I am very excited about adding Natasha to the Huntingdon women’s tennis staff,” said Moore. “Her experiences as a player at AUM and as an assistant at Alabama State will only benefit our program.”
During her tenure with the Hornets and Lady Hornets, Boyko coordinated practices for both squads, implemented strategies during practices and matches, and assisted with University and NCAA required paperwork. In addition, the Lady Hornets qualified for a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournaments, while the Hornets made the SWAC Tournament during her first season with the program.
Prior to joining the ASU staff, Boyko enjoyed a three-year playing career for the Lady Senators, where she was a member of the 2001 NAIA National Championship team. During her second season, she was recognized as an Academic All-American, while the Lady Senators finished as the NAIA Runner-Up both in 2002 and 2003.
During her senior season, Boyko did not compete for AUM, as she participated in an exchange program with the University of Ulsan, in Ulsan, South Korea. She was one of six students at AUM to earn an opportunity to participate in the six-month program, which studied the Korean economy and culture during the 20th century. Upon completion, Boyko returned to Montgomery to graduate with a 4.0 grade point average and Summa Cum Laude honors with a degree in International Business Economics from AUM.
“I am happy to be a part of the Huntingdon women’s tennis program,” Boyko said. “I really enjoy working with the athletic staff and am certain that working with Coach Moore will be a learning experience. I am looking forward to getting the season started.”
