Hawks Fall to Pensacola Christian on the Road, 69-56

PENSACOLA, Fla.—Despite a five-point lead at the half, the Huntingdon men’s basketball team closed out its regular season with a 69-56 loss at Pensacola Christian on Saturday.

The Hawks (11-13) will return to action on Feb. 26, when they take on Maryville in the semifinals of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament, which will be held in Decatur, Ga.

Junior Ephraim Hudson led the Hawks with 15 points, while senior Heath Miller added 10 points. Senior Doug Murry and junior Jack Montgomery each pulled down a team-leading six rebounds.

Huntingdon, which led at the half 29-24, converted 20-of-60 shots for the game, but only 4-of-21 shots from behind the arc. The Hawks also made just 12-of-23 free throw attempts, while committing 21 turnovers.

The Hawks finished with an edge on the glass, outrebounding their opponent 37-35. The Eagles finished the game 24-of-57 from the floor, good for 42.1 percent.

Pensacola Christian placed four scorers in double figures, led by Casey Christian’s 14 points. Ryan Scott finished with 10 rebounds.
