BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- On the second day of the Hilltop Classic, the Huntingdon volleyball team split two matches, defeating Sewanee 3-0 and later falling to Birmingham-Southern, 0-3.
Huntingdon (2-2) opened their third match of the season with a win against Sewanee, 25-18, 25-11, 25-15. Junior Abby Carter led the team with 11 kills, while Jessica Sharker added 10. Junior Alyssa Eason tallied 25 assists to pace the squad.
Defensively, senior Krissie Jones notched 13 digs, while junior Alyssa Eason chipped in 9. Junior Abby Carter posted one solo block and two assisted blocks in the match.
Eason led the team with four service aces in the match.
In the second contest against Birmingham-Southern, the Lady Hawks dropped all three sets, 15-25, 20-25, 18-25.
Senior Clare Shannon posted a match-high 15 kills. Junior Alyssa Eason tallied 15 assists to pace the squad, while Bianca Hulsey added 11 assists.
Defensively, senior Krissie Jones notched 19 digs, with junior Alyssa Eason chipped in 10. Abby Carter posted two assisted blocks.
Senior Clare Shannon and freshman Abby Brown each contributed one service ace.
Huntingdon returns to action Friday, Sept. 10th, taking on Dallas at 3 p.m. and Hendrix at 5 p.m. at the Hendrix Tournament in Conway, Ark.
