LAGRANGE, Ga. --- The Huntingdon men’s and women’s soccer team each dropped their respective Great South Athletic Conference contest to LaGrange on Wednesday night, as the Hawks fell 2-0 and the Lady Hawks were defeated 1-0 at LaGrange.
In the women’s contest, LaGrange found the scoreboard in the 24 th minute of action, from a goal by Brittany Gray. The Lady Panthers took three shots on goal in the first half, while the Lady Hawks came up short off of two shots on goal.
The Lady Hawks fired two shots on goal in the second half, and held LaGrange to only one shot on goal. Huntingdon was unable to get a goal to fall in the 1-0 loss to the Lady Panthers. Crystal Flores led the Lady Hawks with two shots on goal in the shutout.
Jenny Burnash made four saves in the loss, including three in the first half.
In the men’s game, Stacy Terry led the Hawks with three shots on goal in the 2-0 loss to LaGrange Wednesday night. The Panthers scored two goals in the contest, coming in the 30 th minute by Jeremy Ham off of a Chandler Winner assist in the first half.
In the second half, the Panthers made the best of their only shot on goal in the 57 th minute, extending the lead 2-0 for the win. The Hawks fired five total shots on goal, including three unsuccessful attempts in the second half .
Kyle Gifford started in goal, pulling down four saves all in the first half of action.
Both the Huntingdon men’s and women’s teams will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Huntingdon's Soccer Field. The women's team start the day against Wesleyan at 1 p.m., before the Hawks take on Covenant at 3 p.m.
