MONTEVALLO,
Ala. --- The Huntingdon men's soccer team dropped the match to
talented Division II no. 11 Montevallo on Wednesday night, 8-0.
In
the first-half, the Hawks were unable to take a shot on goal, while
Montevallo scored four goals coming in the 16th,
17th,
22nd,
and 42nd
minute.
The
Hawks were able to take four shots on goal in the second half of the
contest, led by Joseph Jean with two shots. Montevallo added to the
4-0 lead with four more goals in the 48th,
53rd,
54th,
and 83rd
minute,
while securing the shutout over Huntingdon.
Matt
Russell recorded 10 saves in goal for 65 minutes, while Jordan
Osborne tallied four saves in the last 25 minutes of action.
“Our
guys battled hard in the match, but Montevallo proved to have a very
talented group of players well deserving of the national ranking,”
said head coach Kevin Ray.
The
Hawks will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23, hosting conference
opponent Piedmont at Huntingdon's Soccer Field. Kickoff for the match
is set at 3 p.m.
