MARYVILLE, Tenn. --- The Lady Scots (16-4, 9-0 GSAC) remained undefeated in Great South Athletic Conference play after the Lady Hawks (8-11, 4-6 GSAC) fell 88-69 in Maryville, Tenn. on Saturday afternoon. Huntingdon College's women's basketball team never overcame the 12-point, 45-33, halftime deficit.
Huntingdon was able to take a one-point lead early in the contest, but Maryville proved to be too much after a 13-0 run. The Lady Scots scoring streak gave them a 16-point lead, 32-16, with 8:30 remaining in the half. Maryville extended its lead up to 20-points in the second half, and Huntingdon was unable to trim the Lady Scots lead under double-digits before losing 88-69.
The Lady Scots shot 50 percent, hitting 33-of-66 shots, while the Lady Hawks finished 26-of-57 (45.6 percent). In the victory, Maryville held a 43-33 advantage on the glass.
Four Lady Hawks posted double-digit performances, led by senior Ashton Salter's 16 points. Sophomore Devin Douglas recorded 14 points and led the team with 7 rebounds. Juniors LaTerial Williams and Whitney Toole added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Tayler Smith paced the Lady Scots with a game-high 21 points and 15 rebounds in the conference victory over Huntingdon.
