Lady Hawks Unable to Overcome Early Deficit to Piedmont, 81-54

MONTGOMERY, Al. --- The Huntingdon women's basketball team (7-10, 3-5 GSAC) fell to Piedmont College (13-5, 7-1 GSAC), 81-54 on Saturday afternoon in Catherine Dixon Roland Arena.  The Lady Hawks got behind early and never could get the momentum needed to catch the Lady Lions.

The Lady Hawks were led by junior LaTerial Williams with 11 points and 4 steals.  Also in support, senior Ashton Salter, and junior Whitney Toole each scored 10 points, while Salter led the team with 8 rebounds.

For the game, Huntingdon shot 28 percent (18-of-64) compared to 42 percent (30-of-71) for Piedmont.  The Lady Lions held the rebound advantage, pulling down 53, while the Lady Hawks grabbed 38.  The Lady Hawks shot an impressive 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the foul line.

Piedmont was led by junior guard, Amber Satterfield with 18 point, and junior forward, Sada Wheeler with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Hawks return to the hardwood, Tuesday February 1st, as they take on Wesleyan College in a Great South matchup.  Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Catherine Dixon Roland Arena.
