MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Huntingdon
College women's cross country team has been named a U.S. Track &
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III
All-Academic Cross Country Team.
Huntingdon is one of two schools from
the Great South Athletic Conference who qualified its women's team
for this honor. A total of 167 institutions represent 35 conferences
that compose the group.
“The All-Academic honor is a great
accomplishment for our team and Caitlin,” said head coach Nate
Rucker. “I'm very proud of our girls for working hard in the
classroom and on the course to get this special academic
achievement.”
The Lady Hawks had a combined GPA of
3.11 and participated in the NCAA South Regional Championships.
Junior Caitlin McMahon took 34th place in the final meet
of the season, after the Lady Hawks won their second straight GSAC
championship.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic
Cross County Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of
3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five
runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
Individually, McMahon also earned
USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the past week. She is majoring in
Exercise Science and posts a 3.39 GPA. McMahon is the only
representative from the GSAC to be named on the team made of 107
competitors.
