DEMOREST, Ga. --- Huntingdon College’s women’s basketball teams’
season ended after losing, 71-35, to Great South Athletic Conference opponent
Piedmont College. The Lady Hawks never held a lead in the contest, while
Piedmont went into the half with a 36-17 advantage.
Piedmont’s Amber Satterfield started the Lady Lions 71-point
night with a quick 3-pointer in the opening possession. The Lady Lions built a
double-digit margin by intermission up 36-17. Huntingdon’s scoring struggles
continued into the second half, while Piedmont extended its advantage by
36-points at the end of the contest, 71-35.
Junior LaTerial Williams paced the Lady Hawks with 8 points
and 8 rebounds followed by freshman Jodi Montalvo’s six points in the loss.
Piedmont out-rebounded the Lady Hawks 56-34 in the game,
while shooting 40.3 percent (25-of-62) compared to Huntingdon’s 22.2 percent
(14-of-63) from the field. Piedmont’s (18-8, 11-3 GSAC) Sydney Seitz led the
team with 12 points in the GSAC victory.
Although the Lady Hawks (9-17, 4-10 GSAC) season ended
tonight, the GSAC championship games will be held at Huntingdon’s Catherine
Dixon Roland Arena on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26. For more information on
