Second-Ranked Hawks in 11th after Second Round of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. --- Huntingdon College's second-ranked men's golf team improved by three-strokes, 299, on the second day of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate at the Jekyll Island Golf Club hosted by Oglethorpe University. The Hawks trail first place Methodist University by 22-strokes with a 601 total in 11^th place before the final round on Sunday.

Huntingdon's freshman Cates Culpepper posted the teams only sub-par second round score with a one-under par, 71, and a 148 tournament total tied for 31^st place. Freshman Jamey Lester also finished tied at 31^st with a 148 after carding a day two 3-over par, 75. Freshman Rodes Bowers recorded his second straight 5-over par, 77, tied for 67^th with a 154. Seniors J.P. Kircher and Chase Blaich rounded out the Hawks' scoring with a 4-over par, 76, and a 13-over, 85, respectively. Kircher is currently tied for 86^th place with a two day total of 157 while Blaich's 160 puts him tied at 105.

Methodist climbed into the top spot with a tournament total 579 after shooting a second round low 283. Greensboro College and Illinois Wesleyan each posted a two round total of 584 followed by Emory University's 585. Transylvania University closed out the top-5 with a two day total 586.

Huntingdon returns to the course on Sunday, Mar. 20, for the final round of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
