INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Huntingdon College's seventh-ranked men's golf team received one of the six Pool B spots for the 2011 NCAA Division III golf national championship next week, May 10-13, at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina hosted by Guilford College and the Greensboro Sports Commission.
“Huntingdon's golf program continues to add to its already successful tradition with another opportunity to compete for a title,” said Athletic Director Buzz Phillips on the Hawks' golf championship berth. “Coach Mahanic has done a super job getting his guys prepared and we wish them the best of luck in their pursuit of a championship.”
“We're very excited to receive the Pool B bid for an opportunity to compete for a national championship,” said Huntingdon's Director of Golf Matt Mahanic. “We look forward to playing at the Grandover Resort again after having success there during the fall.” The Hawks posted a second place finish only five-strokes behind top ranked Guilford College at the same course where the national championship will be determined.
Huntingdon's men's golf team will travel to Greensboro this weekend before the practice rounds on Sunday and Monday, May 8-9, at the Grandover Resort. The Hawks will look to beat their third place finish from a year ago at the 2011 championship.
