Hawks Advance to Third Round of the NCAA Division III Championship after Day Two 297

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Huntingdon College’s seventh-ranked men’s golf team completed the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship in 8^th place with a nine-over par, 297. The Hawks will enter the third round of the tournament 14-strokes, 591, behind current leader Saint John’s University.

Huntingdon’s men’s golf team combined for 10-birdies in the second round of the championship with senior Chase Blaich leading the group with three. The Hawks will look to cut down on carding bogeys following 19 in the second round including two double-bogeys. 

No. 2 Saint John’s, 577, sits in first place after two rounds of action followed by No. 4 Greensboro College with a total of 580. No. 17 Texas Lutheran University finished day two with a 584, while No. 3 Methodist University and No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan University each trailed Texas Lutheran by one-stroke with a 585.

Blaich paced the Hawks with a second round one-over par, 73, registering a two day total of 148 tied for 37^th place. Also tied for 37^th, freshmen Cates Culpepper and Jamey Lester each tallied two day scores of 148 while carding three-over par, 75, and four-over, 76, in the second round, respectively.

Senior J.P. Kircher and freshman Rodes Bowers each are tied for 47^th place following two day totals of 149. Bowers posted a two-over par, 74, while Kircher shot a three-over par, 75, on Wednesday.

The Hawks are scheduled to tee off at 9:40 a.m. Eastern on Thursday, May 12, at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center’s East Course. The 40-team field was cut to 15 following the second round on Wednesday. Complete Tee Times
