Huntingdon Sits in 8th Place after Three Rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Huntingdon College's men's golf team finished the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship with a 14-over par, 302, in 8^th place with overcast conditions at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center's East Course.

After three rounds of competition, the Hawks sit 16-strokes, 893, behind the current leader, Greensboro College, heading into the final round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Friday.

Cates Culpepper, Great South Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, paced the Hawks on Thursday carding a one-over par, 73, finishing the day tied for 16^th place with a 221. Newcomer Rodes Bowers another GSAC All-Freshman recipient trailed Culpepper by one-stroke with a two-over par, 74, during the third round. Bowers currently sits tied for 29^th place with a tournament total of 223.

Seniors Chase Blaich and J.P. Kircher enter the final round of the championship tied for 38^th and 41^st place, respectively. Blaich carded a five-over par, 77, with a three day total of 225 while Kircher shot a six-over par, 78, on Thursday bringing his total to 227. Freshman Jamey Lester completed the Hawks' scoring after recording a ten-over par, 82, during the third round tied for 51^stplace with a 230.

No. 4 Greensboro finished the third round with a nine-over par, 297, leading the 15-team field with an 877. No. 3 Methodist University carded Thursday's round-low of seven-over par, 295, trailing The Pride by three-strokes, 880. No. 17 Texas Lutheran University and No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan University each shot a ten-over par, 298, during the third round with Texas Lutheran, 882, ahead of Illinois Wesleyan, 883, by one-stroke in the tournament. No. 2 Saint John's University fell down to 4^th place after shooting 18-over par, 306, on Thursday tying Illinois Wesleyan.

The Hawks will tee off at 9:10 a.m. Eastern on the 10^th hole of the Grandover Resort and Conference Center's East Course. Complete Tee Times
