MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Huntingdon College athletic
director Buzz Phillips announced the hiring of Wesley Lyle as the school’s
sports information director on Tuesday.
Lyle replaces Hodge Patterson. Patterson, a 2007
Huntingdon graduate and standout linebacker on the Hawks’ first four football
teams, left his alma mater to become the assistant director of development at
the University of West Georgia.
“We hate to lose Hodge. He is a Huntingdon
graduate, one of our original football players and he was good at his job,”
Phillips said. “But we feel fortunate to be able to bring in Wesley to fill the
position. He has a strong knowledge of Huntingdon athletics and with his experience
I know he will hit the ground running.”
A Montgomery native, Lyle has covered sports in
central Alabama for more than a decade. He spent the past 10 years with the
Montgomery Advertiser sports department, first as a correspondent and later as
the high school reporter.
In addition to high school sports, Lyle also
covered Montgomery’s local colleges. Lyle has covered Huntingdon athletics
since 1997 for various publications. As a correspondent with the Montgomery
Advertiser, Lyle covered the start of Huntingdon’s football program in 2003.
