MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Student-athletes for six fall sports
reported to campus at Huntingdon College on Sunday.
Huntingdon athletic director Buzz Phillips and the coaching
staffs for volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross
country and cheerleading welcomed more than 100 returners and newcomers.
“We’re very excited to have all of our fall teams on campus
now,” Phillips said. “They had a busy day reporting today and they’ll get to
work and begin practice on Monday. We’re looking forward to a good fall.”
Most of the fall sports begin practice Monday morning. The
first competition for all fall sports is less than three weeks away.
Women’s soccer will be the first team to start competition
with a match at Alabama State on Sept. 1. The men’s soccer team opens with a
pair of games in Emory, Va. The Hawks play Emory & Henry College on Sept. 3
and Ferrum College on Sept. 4.
Volleyball begins competition in a two-day tournament at
Birmingham-Southern College. The tournament begins on Sept. 3.
Men’s and women’s cross country also gets started on Sept. 3
with both teams competing in the Sewanee Invitational.
