Four Hawks receive All-Conference recognition

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams each had runners recognized with the release of the Great South Athletic Conference’s All-Conference teams on Saturday.

Senior Jeff Jenkins, the winner of the men’s conference meet, was named All-Conference and the GSAC Runner of the Year. This is the third straight year the Huntingdon men’s team has produced the Runner of the Year. Kent Hagan won the honor in 2009 and 2010.

Huntingdon coach Nate Rucker was named the men’s Coach of the Year. In four seasons, he has been recognized as the men’s Coach of the Year three times and the Women’s Coach of the Year twice.

On the women’s side, seniors Caitlin McMahon and Sheaney Marshall were both named All-Conference. This is the second straight year Marshall has been named All-Conference and the fourth year McMahon has earned the honor.

“The recognition says a lot about the how hard the men’s and women’s teams work,” Jenkins said. “Kudos to coach Rucker for winning his fifth Coach of the Year award. It’s unbelievable what this program has been able to accomplish in four years.

“We’ve had so many people contribute each year and work hard so that both teams could continue to improve. It’s a good feeling when you’re working hard for your teammates and you know they are working hard for you.”
