MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon men’s soccer player Dallas Thomas played a key role in two Great South Athletic Conference battles last week.

Huntingdon gets back on track with win over Webber International

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – There was only one acceptable outcome for the Huntingdon football team on Saturday.

Coming off a disappointing loss to nationally-ranked Trinity University last week, the Hawks needed to bounce back with a win against Webber International University. The Hawks scored four first-half touchdowns and sealed the game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to knock off Webber 42-28 at Samford Stadium.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon women’s golfer Saem Hur had a solid fall season.

The sophomore led Huntingdon in all three tournaments and one head-to-head match. She saved her best for the final tournament of the fall, shooting a 158 in the Birmingham-Southern College Southern Shootout on Oct. 9-10.

Huntingdon cross country teams place fourth in Coach “O” Invitational

TROY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country teams each placed fourth on Saturday in the 12th annual Coach “O” Invitational.

Georgia State swept both races and Troy University was second in each. On the men’s side, Georgia State finished with a score of 20, followed by Troy at 56, Morehouse State at 70 and the Hawks at 103.

The Huntingdon women finished with a score of 107. First-place Georgia State had a score of 15, followed by second-place Troy at 57 and third-place Albany State at 78.

ALFA Insurance® proudly recognizes Trevor Manuel as the Huntingdon College Student-Athlete of the Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon running back Trevor Manuel wasn’t a one-man show in Saturday’s 38-20 win over 11th-ranked Wittenberg.

But Manuel definitely did his part as the Hawks knocked off a Top-15 team for the second time in three games. Manuel finished with 152 yards rushing, 236 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns to help beat the Tigers.

The Monroeville native is this week’s ALFA Insurance® Student-Athlete of the Week.

Huntingdon cross country struggles at JSU Foothills Invitational

OXFORD, Ala. – The Huntingdon women’s cross country team placed 11th and the men’s cross country team did not place in the JSU Foothills Invitational on Saturday.

The women were without senior Caitlin McMahon and freshman Whitney Denney in the race. The men were without junior Ian Layne and freshman Alex Dunkel and senior Jeff Jenkins was unable to finish the race due to illness.

Huntingdon handles 11th-ranked Wittenberg on Homecoming

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon running back Trevor Manuel has had some big games during his career at Huntingdon.

Saturday’s performance was the biggest yet.

Manuel scored four touchdowns and accounted for 236 all-purpose yards as the Hawks beat nationally ranked Wittenberg 38-20 on Homecoming. Wittenberg was ranked No. 11 in the American Football Coaches Association’s poll and 14th in the D3football.com poll.

Huntingdon knocks off Hampden-Sydney to pick up first win against Top-25 competition

Montgomery, Ala. – The Huntingdon College football program has never backed away from a challenge.

In past seasons, the Hawks have stepped up to play nationally ranked Division III programs. Before this season, Huntingdon had never been able to take advantage of the opportunity to pull out a win against a Top-25 program.

Behind five touchdowns in the first half and a strong defensive effort, the Hawks knocked off Hampden-Sydney 34-27 at Samford Stadium on Saturday.

Huntingdon football falls to Birmingham-Southern in double overtime

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was a day of missed opportunities for the Huntingdon College football team.

The Hawks had the opportunity to put Birmingham-Southern College away early in the second half, the opportunity to knock down a desperation pass on the last play of regulation and the opportunity to win in overtime.

Instead, BSC was the team that made the most of its chances on Saturday. The Panthers made the plays they had to have and won 35-29 in double overtime at Panther Stadium.

Hawks volleyball falls in first two matches of Berry tournament

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Melony Motley totaled 13 kills in two matches and Alyssa Eason had 36 assists, but the Huntingdon volleyball team came up short on Friday in the Berry tournament.

Huntingdon (1-5) dropped both matches 3-0.  Covenant beat the Hawks 25-21, 25-19, 25-11 and Mississippi College won 25-23, 25-19, 25-18.

Frisoli joins Huntingdon coaching staff

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon College recently took the next step in the development of its women’s lacrosse program.

Liz Frisoli was hired before the start of the school year and arrived on campus this week.

“I feel like Huntingdon was the best opportunity out there,” Frisoli said. “I really liked the idea of coming to an area where lacrosse is not that well known yet. I’d like to thank President J. MONTGOMERY, Ala. – It’s not quite game week, but the Huntingdon football team will mark the end of preseason practice on Wednesday.

The Hawks’ 4 p.m. scrimmage will cap 14 days of training camp. Game week begins on Monday and the Hawks travel to Maryville College to start the season on Sept. 3.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Four Huntingdon seniors were announced as team captains on Thursday.

Receiver Cody Pearcy, defensive back Keith Anthony, linebacker Kirk Johnson and offensive lineman Eric Stroud were chosen by their teammates to serve as captains this season.

“As far as I’m concerned, being voted a team captain by your teammates is the highest honor a football player can receive,” Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk said. “These four guys are all leaders, good players and guys that have been here and paid their dues. Hawks reach midpoint of preseason football practice

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon football team returned to a more normal routine on Wednesday for the Hawks’ seventh day of practice.

A day after an extended 11-on-11 practice on Tuesday and the first two-a-day session of the preseason, the Hawks returned to W. James Samford Stadium for a single practice. The Hawks have seven more days of preseason work. A scrimmage on Aug. 24 will mark the end of preseason.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The preseason progression continued for the Huntingdon College football team on Monday.

The first four practices focused on learning and conditioning. One more aspect was added for the fifth practice. After two days in shorts and helmets and two days in shoulder pads, shorts and helmets, the Hawks were able to dress out in full pads Monday morning.
