Vice President for External Affairs
Huntingdon College, seeks nominations and applications for Vice President for External Affairs. The position is available January 1, 2009. Nominations and applications will be received until the position is filled.
Reporting directly to the President of the College and serving on the Presidents Council, the Vice President for External Affairs is the chief advancement officer of the College. The VPEA is responsible for planning and direct management of the Colleges major gift, business and foundation gift, and governmental affairs programs. The VPEA supervises an experienced professional staff which plans and manages prospect research and gift recording/processing; the communications, publications and marketing program, including the College Web site; alumni advancement; and the annual fund. Church relations, which previously reported to the VPEA, will move to the Presidents direct supervision.
The Vice President for External Affairs advises, works closely and travels with President J. Cameron West, who since arriving at Huntingdon in June 2003 has led an advancement and admissions effort that has grown the net worth of the College from $36.2 million to $52.7 million. Endowed funds have increased from $33.8 million to $47 million. Two campaigns totalling approximately $5 million, for property/facility acquisition and scholarship assistance, have been completed. A current $5 million campaign for scholarship assistance and for faculty and student life support, is 90 per cent pledged and over 50 per cent paid. Giving to the annual fund has increased every year during President Wests tenure, and pledges to the 2008–09 annual fund are running over 15 per cent ahead of the previous year. Full-time enrollment in the traditional academic program has increased from 531 to 802, and full-time equivalent enrollment in the Accelerated Degree Completion Program has grown from virtually 0 to over 200.
Since 2003, major gifts over and above campaign receipts have allowed the College to undertake a full renovation and expansion of the science building and a full renovation of the art gallery; total renovation of the main College gymnasium into a state-of-the-art basketball facility; and construction of an on-campus 2300-seat football stadium. At the May 2008 meeting of the Board of Trustees, President West outlined a proposed strategic facility renovation and construction plan designed to continue enrollment and program growth and to establish long-term financial sustainability. This proposal is currently under review by the Trustee executive committee.
The new Vice President for External Affairs will bring an established record of professional excellence and success in higher education advancement, with at least 10 years experience of progressively more significant responsibility. Masters degree or higher is preferred, with consideration given to candidates with bachelors degree. Salary and benefits are highly competitive with peer liberal arts institutions. Director of the Center for Career & Vocation
The Director of the Center for Career and Vocation is responsible for the administration and organization of the comprehensive career services center including career exploration exercises, co-op education, career counseling, and career assessment. The Director will provide services such as graduate and professional school counseling, and workshops and seminars on professional development and job-seeking skills. This position will also develop new employer contacts, job leads, and interviews through personal contact and regular effective marketing to employers. Preference will be given to candidates who can assist students to reflect upon their vocation and how that calling is lived out in their chosen career.
The successful candidate will possess effective written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. A Masters Degree is expected and 1–2 years related experience is preferred.

Management
Huntingdon College seeks applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Management. Duties include teaching a variety of courses in business/management, including quantitative management; advising students academically and assisting students regarding career opportunities; developing, promoting, and supervising student internships; supporting student development and academic activities; and serving on committees and fulfilling administrative duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies. Previous teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching, active participation in professional organizations, student-centered interaction, collegiality, and the liberal arts educational experience. Position is to begin August 2009. A Ph.D. in management at time of appointment is desired; A.B.D. or those with significant progress toward Ph.D. considered.
