Financial Aid Checklist
The following information will guide you through the admission and financial aid application process:
- Complete the proccess of applying for admission. You may apply online or call 1-800-763-0313 or (334) 833-4497 to receive information by mail. NOTE: Students who are accepted by December 1 are reviewed for eligibility for Academic Merit Scholarships and appropriate application materials are mailed automatically.
- Apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for yourself and, if you are a dependent student, ask that your parents apply for a separate PIN, at http://pin.ed.gov. This will allow you and your parents to apply for financial aid online.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1. The Huntingdon Title IV code is 001019. By including the College code, Huntingdon will receive the results automatically.
- Explore local financial aid sources with your high school, community, church, or employers and check out no-cost Internet scholarship search engines, such as http://www.finaid.com, http://www.fastaid.com, http://www.fastweb.com, http://www.scholarshipexperts.com, and http://www.collegeanswer.com. In general, Huntingdon does not encourage the use of scholarship services that require fees.
- After Huntingdon receives the report generated from your FAFSA, known as the Student Aid Report (SAR), your financial aid package will be prepared. You will be considered for all forms of aid for which you are eligible (note that some scholarships, such as Honors Scholarships or Alumni Legacy Grants, have separate application procedures and/or deadlines and will only be included on your package once the Office of Student Financial Services is notified by the Office of Admission or the Office of College and Alumni Relations that you have received these awards). The Office of Student Financial Services will then compile all of the aid or scholarship monies for which you are eligible in a Financial Aid Package (or Financial Aid Award Letter), which will be mailed to you. You may accept or decline each component of the package, sign the letter, and return it to the Office of Student Financial Services. NOTE: Be sure you complete applications for components of your aid package such as loans, the Alabama Student Grant application, and other components as applicable by the deadlines necessary. Your award letter should include instructions about finalizing each component of the award.
- Pay your New Student Deposit to reserve your place in the entering class and to secure your aid package.
- Complete all components of the Enrollment Information Packet (housing information, health form, immunizations, other forms) and sign up for a Summer Orientation Program in order to register for fall classes.
