Phil Keaggy Performs at Huntingdon CollegeMontgomery, Ala.—Guitarist/composer Phil Keaggy will make a rare appearance in the South for a benefit concert on the Huntingdon College campus Wednesday, October 29, at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held on the Green or, in case of inclement weather, in a location to be announced. With more than 50 albums to his credit in both contemporary Christian music and mainstream progressive rock markets, Keaggy has frequently been named among the worlds top three fingerstyle and fingerpicking guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine readers polls. He is a seven-time recipient of the GMA Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year and was twice nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. His concerts feature an eclectic blend of musical styles and genres. The concert is a benefit for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Haydens Heroes, a group of family and friends of Hayden Fielder, a two-year-old recently diagnosed with Duchennes muscular dystrophy. Haydens grandfather and uncle are members of the Huntingdon College staff, his mother and aunt are Huntingdon students, and his grandmother is a Huntingdon alumna. The benefit is sponsored by the Huntingdon College Office of Student Life, Student Government Association, and Greek Life. Keaggys solo career has spanned more than 30 years and has included 8 releases with his band, Glass Harp. An acoustic and electric guitarist, his solo acoustic instrumental albums, including The Wind and the Wheat, Invention, Acoustic Sketches, Majesty and Wonder, and Lights of Madrid have dominated the Dove Awards in the Instrumental Album category. His latest releases are Phantasmagorical, August 2008; The Master and the Musician, a two-disc set released in November 2007; The Song Within, October 2007; and Acoustic Café, May 2007. Ticket prices are $15.00 and will go on sale October 9 until the day of the concert. The day of the concert, tickets will be $20.00 each. Tickets may be picked up at the Office of Student Life in The Hut Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. until the night of the concert. Discounted tickets are available for Huntingdon faculty, staff, and students. Further donations to the MDA will be collected at the concert.
