Jordan Shelby 2017

If you can’t find Ambassador Jordan Shelby ’17 around campus, you’re not looking very hard. Tall and sturdy, Jordan is a Hawks offensive lineman and a constant presence around campus. He serves as president of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and helps the Office of Admission as a Student Recruiter. Jordan studies a lot—so you might find him in the library, second floor, South wing, in the back right cubicle. Some folks are particular about where they study, but hey, if it works, who’s to argue? And for Jordan, it works—he’s earned recognition on both dean’s lists twice each, won the Beginning Spanish Award, and is a USA South All-Academic Team member. Jordan lettered in football and basketball at Fairhope High School in Fairhope, Alabama, where he was named all-county and elected as a team captain. A biology major, he plans for his next step to be physician assistant school. And by the way, Jordan is known for his steps—he choreographed his fraternity’s Greek Week Mock Rock skit this year. Jordan’s favorite professor is Dr. Maureen Kendrick Murphy ’78, professor of chemistry and chair of the Department of Chemistry, about whom he says, “She’s just a sweetheart.” He also prizes the staff in the DH for keeping him fed. One of his favorite things to do, besides hang out at thrift stores, is to make videos with his friends. Witty, friendly, smart and funny, Jordan is known for his hilarious voice impressions. So if you don’t have a smile on your face before you meet him, you surely will afterward. And what could be better than making people smile?
