Huntingdon Ambassador Mary-Stewart Hinds ’17 is a Huntingdon legacy. Both of her parents, former Homecoming Queen Melinda Hinds ’87 and former baseball player Bryan Hinds ’88, are Huntingdon alums. But Mary-Stewart didn’t choose Huntingdon in order to follow in her parents’ footsteps. Rather, in her words, “I chose Huntingdon because I went to a small high school, and it was the perfect size I was looking for in college. I fell in love with the beautiful campus and how family-oriented it was.” A member of Alpha Omicron Pi women’s fraternity, the Student Alumni Association, Voice of Justice, the EXPERTS (Exercise Science) Club, and a work-study student, Mary-Stewart, a Montgomery native, plans for a career as a physical therapist after completing her exercise science major at Huntingdon. Like most students, her favorite thing about Huntingdon is the relationships she has built with faculty and staff, as well as opportunities for leadership and for her career. Success is ingrained in her achievement—she’s been named to Phi Eta Sigma honor society and to both dean’s lists. Given her Huntingdon history, it’s not surprising that her three words for Huntingdon are historical, prestigious, and home, and we’re so glad she and her parents found their college home right here.
