What do you get when you take a big heart and multiply it with determination and skill? You get Ambassador Nicholas Haas ’17. Nick has a strategy: sum up his Huntingdon mathematics degree in December 2016 and add a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama-Huntsville to achieve the career he envisions. But along the way, enhance the college experience exponentially by involvement in something about which he’s passionate. For Nick, that’s football. He’s the leading wide receiver for the Huntingdon Hawks with—count ’em— 54 receptions, 823 yards, and 9 touchdowns to his credit in 2015 alone. “I chose Huntingdon because when I came on my recruiting visit the coaches didn’t just care about me being successful on the football field, but also in life and in my spiritual life,” says Nick. “My favorite things about Huntingdon are the small school family atmosphere and the one-on-one relationships you can build with your professors.” Nick, who lettered in football, basketball, and soccer for the Madison Academy Mustangs in Madison, Alabama, loves adventure, too—snowboarding in the Colorado mountains and waterskiing barefoot. At HC, he’s made the All-Conference 2nd Team and Academic All-Conference Team, and in high school won all-region, all-tournament, and all-metro honors. In short, he’s a beast on the field—one with a big heart and a calculating mind. Heart, mind, spirit, skill: four reasons he’s a Huntingdon Ambassador.
