Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts
Individuals and organizations at Huntingdon College will join together
Thursday, November 8, to provide relief kits—the
Cleaning Bucket and the
School Kit—through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to be donated to those in the Northeastern United States who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. You may find these original lists and a video about them on the UMCOR Web site: http://www.umcor.org/UMCOR/Relief-Supplies, or click on the links above for PDFs of the kit contents and packing instructions. If you have access to a sewing machine or know someone who sews and would like to make the school bag instead of purchasing it, here is the
School Bag Pattern.
Your team, sorority/fraternity, organization, club, floor, hall, office, committee or whatever other group you are part of is challenged to purchase and assemble these kits. Each assembled kit/bucket is worth one community service hour for your organization. We must move quickly as this is an urgent need and time is of the essence. Begin now by forming and informing your team of the task at hand, then bring the assembled kits to the Hut Thursday evening, November 8, 7:30 p.m.–8:15 p.m.
Remember:
#1--Form and Inform YOUR team (take the lead)
#2--Decide how many "Cleaning Buckets" or "School Kits" you will provide.
#3--Purchase the supplies (from the supply list)
#4--Assemble the kits/buckets.
#5--You and your organization bring the completed buckets and kits to the Hut on Thursday, November 8, 7:30–8:15 p.m.
Alumni, neighbors, and friends of the college are certainly welcome to join us as well with any and all parts of this effort!
