Arbor Day 2014

Arbor Day 2014

With the celebration of Arbor Day 2014, Huntingdon announced its intention to begin the Tree Campus USA initiative. Huntingdon has formed an advisory committee under Tree Campus USA coordinator Gabrielle Ehinger, and the group is planning a complete tree inventory, budget assessments and allocations, and service-learning initiatives as part of the qualification process.

During the Arbor Day celebration, the TC-USA Initiative gave away 150 seedlings furnished by the Alabama Forestry Commission.  President J. Cameron West, Board Chairman David Hudson ’81, and Blake Bosch ’14 symbolically planted one of three new Live Oak trees along the main pathway on The Green at the center of campus.
The group plans to complete the Tree Campus USA qualification process by December 31, 2014.
