Yancey Gordon

Yancey is a senior from Pensacola , FL. He has been a key member of the HC football team as the starting punter. Yancey has also decided to try his hand at tennis and has earned a spot on the Hawks tennis team. Yancey is a Human Performance major seeking Physical Education Teacher Certification and is growing professionally as a member of ASAHPERD (the Alabama Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance); a member of the EXPERTS human performance majors' club; and has been inducted into Pi Alpha Sigma, an honor society recognizing academic achievement among athletic training and human performance majors. “I enjoy working with children with special needs because I feel like it is something that God has placed upon my heart and I see the need in helping others.”

Adam West

A 22 year-old Montgomery-born, military brat, Adam has been moving ever since he was born. As the son of an Air Force Chaplin, Adam has lived in about 7 different states and 2 countries. A graduate from Okinawa, Japan DOD High School and a graduate from Southeast Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree, Adam began his bachelor degree program at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont , NE majoring in Physical Education Teacher Education. After one semester at Midland Lutheran, Adam transferred back home to his family in Montgomery and enrolled into Huntingdon College. Adam is a member of the HC football team as an offensive linemen. He is also a member of Huntingdon's EXPERTS club and of ASAHPERD, and is currently employed at the Bell Road YMCA as an Assistant Head Lifeguard. Adam is an active member at Landmark Church and is very involved in the College Ministries Group. “I feel that God is a very large part of my life and without him I wouldn't be where I am today. I feel God has given me the love and talent to work with children. I feel it's important to be able to connect with children and be there as a good role model for them. I love to be able to work with and teach children the importance of good physical health and how it can be fun."

Dr. Swiger has been a certified athletic trainer for over 12 years and has experience working with athletes and children with disabilities in various athletic and rehabilitation settings. Dr. Swiger has been interested in adapted physical activities for youth since her days as an undergraduate at WVU, where she volunteered for Special Olympics and performed her student teaching in an adapted physical education setting. Her interest may also stem from her own family history as both her parents are deaf and graduates from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.
