WHEELIN' HAWKS VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Wheelin' Hawks is under the direction of faculty advisor Dr. Wanda Swiger and Huntingdon College student directors, but entirely facilitated by Huntingdon College students. We welcome outside volunteers and are often assisted by students from Alabama State University and Auburn University at Montgomery. In addition, a large measure of our human resources are provided by the Montgomery Therapeutic Recreation Association.

The student advisory committee at Huntingdon College has developed the following statement of intent: To provide children with disabilities the opportunity to compete in sport and recreation activities in a safe, social environment. By doing this, we hope that those involved gain increased enjoyment, confidence, sense of accomplishment, lasting friendships and a lifetime appreciation of sport and physical activity.

In order to volunteer for a Wheelin' Hawks Saturday you must register with our office by calling our hotline at (334) 833-4225. You must be at least 16 years of age and complete the appropriate volunteer forms before the day of the event. Download Forms (PDF) Most of all, you must be ready to play! Volunteers are immediately integrated into the games and activities. Please arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Note: Appropriate athletic wear and swimwear is required.
