Huntingdon men pledge Greek fraternities

The annual fraternity Rush events at Huntingdon College have concluded for the fall semester 2014, with 45 men accepting bids to three Huntingdon fraternities, Lambda Chi Alpha, Sigma Nu, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Huntingdon’s fourth fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, identifies candidates through a separate process.

HC and SUSCC sign reverse transfer agreement

Huntingdon College President J. Cameron West and Southern Union State Community College President Glenda Colagross signed a “reverse transfer” agreement between their respective institutions Monday, September 15. The agreement allows SUSCC students who transfer to Huntingdon, whether in the traditional day program or the Evening Bachelor’s Degree program, to transfer credits back to SUSCC toward completion of the associate’s degree. The agreement is beneficial to transfer students and to both colleges, as well as to local workforce development.

American String Quartet to perform at Huntingdon

The American String Quartet will perform as part of Huntingdon College’s Elizabeth Belcher Cheek Concert Series, Monday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the College’s Ligon Chapel, Flowers Hall. Recognized as one of the world’s foremost quartets, the American String Quartet celebrates its 39th season in 2014–2015 with performances featuring Peter Winograd and Laurie Carney on violin; Daniel Avshalomov on viola; and Wolfram Koessel on cello.

Women join Greek Life during Bid Day 2014

Fifty-five Huntingdon College women received bids to enter Panhellenic women’s fraternities during Bid Day, Thursday, September 4. Huntingdon’s national women’s fraternities are Alpha Omicron Pi, Chi Omega, and Phi Mu.
