Bringing Important Writers to the Huntingdon Campus

Established by a generous gift from the late Dr. Rhoda Coleman Ellison, professor emerita of English, the Ellison Writers Festival and Lecture Series brings to campus speakers of note who are respected in the world of letters.  Most speakers offer writing workshops for students and speak to literature classes during their time on campus.

Writers who have appeared as part of this series:

Katherine Clark, Jennifer Horne, Brian Turner, Richard Tillinghast, Joan McBreen, Brad Watson, Trudier Harris, Mark Childress, Tom Franklin, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Natasha Trethewey, Honoree Jeffers, Hank Lazar, Donald Hall, James Seay, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Donald Justice, Wilma Dykeman, Wendell Berry, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley, and Pulitzer nominee and Huntingdon alumnus Andrew Hudgins
