The Program
The Kingswood Initiative Athletics Coaching Program (ACP) seeks engaged, motivated women and men committed to serving as leaders in athletics coaching. Each student who participates in the Kingswood Initiative Athletics Coaching Program will have a four-year experience developing their leadership skills and coaching philosophy/pedagogy by working alongside different departments on campus. Students who complete the program will be uniquely qualified to work in the field of athletics coaching upon graduation.
Kingswood Initiative Undergraduate Athletics Coaching Program participants gain knowledge and experience in the field of coaching and athletics as they prepare to be leaders in their communities and to make an impact on the lives of children and young adults. Students work closely with the Huntingdon Department of Athletics, Huntingdon Counseling staff, and their Academic Coach to learn and practice a variety of skills, including practice planning, safety and injury prevention, and organization and administration of an athletic team. As a result, students will gain knowledge in the field of athletics coaching through hands-on experience with various Huntingdon College intercollegiate athletic teams and departments.
Applications for the Undergraduate Athletics Coaching program will be reviewed by the Office of Admissions and the Associate Director of Athletics/Director of Athletic Operations. Acceptance into the ACP carries a $16,000 scholarship (for students entering in fall 2025), renewable for a total of four years, with the expectation of full participation in the ACP programming.
Eligibility for Consideration:
Note: Because of the time commitment involved in this program, the ACP is not open to students who are involved in intercollegiate athletic teams, Esports, the Presidential Scholars Program, dance, cheer, or band. To be considered for the ACP, a student must:
- Apply and be admitted to Huntingdon College without conditions;
- Complete the CAB Application and submit it, along with a resume that includes the student’s leadership and involvement in high school and/or community activities.
Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until all ACP spaces are awarded.
