CCV Director Serves as AACE President

Montgomery, AL – Sherry Leigh Lacey Farquhar ’13 serves as the Director for the Huntingdon College Center for Career and Vocation (CCV). Her dedication to the Huntingdon family to connect a student’s education to experience and the degree to the job field or graduate program is an important factor in Huntingdon’s reputation as a premier pre-professional institution. In her CCV role, Sherry Leigh utilizes a wide array of connections and opportunities to support students in every major on campus. One of her resources has been her membership and leadership in the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers (AACE) where she has severed in the past year as President of the Executive Board. 

The AACE is a professional organization with a mission to bridge the gap between industry and education by creating meaningful partnerships and opportunities for collaboration among the members. AACE hosts professional development and networking events including conferences, a leadership academy, and virtual gatherings. The members are professionals in career services and student development in higher education and employer members with backgrounds in recruitment, talent development, and economic or workforce development.  Sherry Leigh has been an active member and in leadership roles in the AACE since joining the Huntingdon College CCV eleven years ago. As the current President of the AACE Executive Board, she leads the team from the across the state of Alabama in professional development and chairs the annual summer conference committee where the organization is celebrating 50 years. The Presidential term ends in September when she will move to the Past President position on the board and continue as a co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee and the Leadership Academy. 

For Sherry Leigh, her connections and opportunities in organizations like the AACE is an opportunity she can offer to every Hawk. Sherry Leigh shared, “Being part of AACE is an amazing opportunity to meet career development professionals from various institutions in order to learn and grow in creating strategies, events, and ideas that ultimately build up the professional skills of our students. Creating partnerships with employers who are looking to recruit and retain talent in Alabama is crucial to building up the workforce of Alabama and helps immensely in getting our Hawks hired! Collaborating and building partnerships and relationships is what it’s about, which ultimately benefits the students that I work with every day.”
