Dr. Russell (Rusty) Logan is a native of Wetumpka, Alabama, and graduated from Wetumpka High School. He attended Auburn University and received the Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master of Music in Trombone Performance. Dr. Logan later attended the University of Mississippi, where he was awarded the Doctor of Arts in Music Theory. Dr. Logan has served as Director of Bands at Monroe Academy in Forsyth, Georgia; Victoria High School in Victoria, Texas; and Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama. After serving 24 years as Director of Bands at Auburn High School, he retired July 1, 2013. While at Auburn High School, Dr. Logan’s bands were rated Superior, yearly, at the Alabama Bandmasters Association’s Music Performance Assessment, and also performed for the Alabama Music Educators Association, Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic and the Southern Division of the College Bandmasters Association. Dr. Logan serves as conductor of the East Alabama Community Band and is Principal Trombonist for the Alabama Winds. He has performed in the orchestra for productions at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
Dr. Logan’s professional affiliations include the Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, The National Association for Music Education and Phi Beta Mu. Dr. Logan is a member of the Phi Beta Mu, Rho Chapter, Alabama Bandmasters Hall of Fame.
