Dr. Stephanie L. Kirschmann Named Huntingdon’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty

Montgomery, AL – Huntingdon College President Anthony Leigh announced today that Dr. Stephanie L. Kirschmann has been selected to serve as Huntingdon’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty.  Dr. Kirschmann comes to Huntingdon from her role as the Chief Administrative Officer at Trinity Medical Sciences University, after having served a seven-year stint as a Vice President for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

In making the appointment, President Leigh celebrated Dr. Kirschmann’s unique qualifications, student-centered focus, and appreciation for Huntingdon’s faith-based mission.

“Dr. Kirschmann brings 25 years of academic management experience to Huntingdon.  She is exceedingly well known in higher education for her work in accreditation preparedness, institutional effectiveness, and strategic planning.  As a Vice President for SACSCOC, she served as Huntingdon’s liaison to the accrediting body and we found her to be a wise, accessible, approachable, and trusted counselor.  She shares my commitment to serving students and advancing Huntingdon’s reputation as one of the South’s premier pre-professional colleges.  Her collaborative spirit, affinity for faith-based higher education, and commitment to student well-being in and out of the classroom will make her an exceptional addition to our Huntingdon family.”

Dr. Kirschmann holds a doctorate in higher education policy from Vanderbilt University, along with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Adventist University.  Prior to her role at SACSCOC, she served as the Vice President for Quality Assurance, Policy and Planning at LeTourneau University in Texas.  She has also held academic leadership roles at Richmont Graduate University and Southern Adventist University.

“I am deeply honored to join the Huntingdon College family, a community defined by its intentionality and the shared belief that every student should be known by name,” stated Dr. Kirschmann. “Under President Leigh’s leadership, it is clear that every department embraces a truly student-centered focus. I am particularly impressed by the accomplished faculty, who are dedicated educators personally invested in their students’ success. I feel truly privileged to begin our work together in such a purposeful environment.

Dr. Kirschmann, along with her husband, Dusty, is looking forward to relocating to Montgomery to begin this new chapter. Her appointment as Huntingdon’s chief academic officer will begin on February 16.
