Huntingdon Announces Light the Way Writing Competition for Teachers

Montgomery, AL – Huntingdon College’s English department is proud to release a new writing competition for teachers, Light the Way. The program is part of the recently announced Huntingdon College Center for Leadership in Ethics, Character, and Faith. The Center’s programming and events are focused on engaging the campus community and off-campus constituents in programming to advance the core values of the Huntingdon experience. The College’s emphasis on ethics and character in leadership will serve as a guiding principle for judging in the Light the Way competition.

Dates for submissions are April 15 to June 15, and a winner will be announced in October of 2026. A $250 cash prize will be awarded to the winner, and a privately printed chapbook of the winning work will be produced in a limited quantity. Any teacher in an accredited K-12 school in Alabama, Georgia, or Florida may submit one work of creative nonfiction.

Huntingdon Instructor of English and Advisor of The Prelude literary magazine, Mr. Foster Dickson, is the contact for Light the Way. For more information on submissions and guidelines, please visit www.huntingdon.edu/center-for-leadership or email Mr. Dickson at fosterdickson@hawks.huntingdon.edu.
