Huntingdon Choir Performs for AMEA
Montgomery, Ala.—The Huntingdon College Concert Choir will perform for the Alabama Music Educators Association conference, Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in Ballroom A of the Renaissance Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center. In preparation for that concert, the choir will perform their AMEA selections Wednesday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. in at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Each program is free and the public is invited to attend.
The performances will include works written by Dan Forrest, Elaine Hagenberg, Susan LaBarr, and Paul Basler, as well as arrangements by Will Todd and Trey McLaughlin.
The Huntingdon College Concert Choir is the premier choral ensemble at Huntingdon College. This mixed ensemble performs diverse literature from all genres under the direction of Dr. Damion Womack, director of choral activities and chair of the Department of Fine Arts. The Concert Choir performs regularly on campus for convocations, concerts, and the Huntingdon College annual Service of Lessons and Carols. In addition, the ensemble tours in the Southeast annually.
In addition to the choir’s performance for the AMEA state convention, the choir has been invited to perform at Spivey Hall at Clayton State as part of the Young People’s Concert in March 2020. The Concert Choir is open to all undergraduate students. Generous scholarships are available for qualified Concert Choir participants.
