Huntingdon Leadership Academy Returns in June 2022
Montgomery, Ala.— Huntingdon College will offer the Huntingdon Leadership Academy in a live, in-person format this year. First presented in 2014, the Huntingdon Leadership Academy is a youth theological camp during which high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors discover what it means for God to have a calling on each of their lives. The camp moved to an online format in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID-19 but will return as a two-day/overnight camp on the Huntingdon College campus, June 24–25, 2022. The cost is $50 per participant and includes meals, lodging, and program materials.
Ms. Bria Rochelle-Stephens, instructor of religion, serves as content coordinator for the camp. “The intent of the Huntingdon Leadership Academy is to lead students into a deeper relationship with God,” said Ms. Rochelle-Stephens. “The camp combines lectures from faculty experts and area clergy and the guidance of dedicated college mentors who are passionate about helping students explore their vocational paths. Students will worship together and uncover their connection to the body of Christ. Our goal as the HLA team is to raise up the future leaders of the Church whether they are lay leaders or clergy members. We recognize and value the imparting of God’s gifts upon all of God’s people, and we hope to aid in the Church’s transformation of the world.”
Huntingdon College faculty from the Department of Religion, the Huntingdon Chaplain, and area Methodist clergy are working together to offer this year’s camp, which is open to high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors of any denomination.
High school students who are interested in the program may complete the registration form at www.huntingdon.edu/hla. The deadline for submission is May 1. For more information, contact hla@hawks.huntingdon.edu.
