Registration Open for 2017 Huntingdon Leadership Academy

Montgomery, Ala.—Huntingdon College is accepting registrations for the 2017 Huntingdon Leadership Academy, established in 2015 to assist high school juniors and seniors in discerning God’s call on their lives. Supported by a gift from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., the 2017 Academy has been expanded to six days and five nights, June 25–30. United Methodist churches in the Alabama-West Florida and North Alabama Conferences of The United Methodist Church are invited to sponsor high school youth to participate in the program.

HLA is directed by Sophy Shore in cooperation with the Huntingdon Office of the Chaplain, Huntingdon College faculty in the Department of Religion, local United Methodist clergy, and a visiting faculty-member-in-residence from Duke Divinity School. The 2017 Academy will provide mentoring, discussion of important current topics in the life of the church, cultural and mission-related events, and time for fun, praise, and worship.

The registration cost is $100 per student, with $50 paid by the student’s sponsoring church and $50 paid by the student and his/her family.

Huntingdon College, grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition of the United Methodist Church, is committed to nurturing growth in faith, wisdom, and service and to graduating individuals prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Founded in 1854, Huntingdon is a coeducational liberal arts college recognized among “The Fastest Growing Colleges in America”  by The Chronicle of Higher Education; among the top regional colleges by U.S. News and World Report and by the Princeton Review; among “Colleges that Contribute to the Public Good,” by Washington Monthly; and on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The Huntingdon campus, a Tree Campus USA, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
