Huntingdon Welcomes Toni Toney for February Art Exhibit

Montgomery, AL – On Monday, February 16 at 7:00 PM, Huntingdon College will welcome Montgomery artist, Toni Toney, for the annual art exhibit. The art showing will take place in the Seay Twins Art Gallery.

Toni Toney is a visual artist and art educator working primarily in acrylics whose work explores memory, identity, and the quiet power of lived experience. Born in Lynwood, California, and based in Montgomery, Alabama, she draws from personal history, cultural narratives, and her work as an art educator with incarcerated youth. Through this lens, she creates portraits and mixed media works that honor dignity, resilience, and becoming. Her practice is rooted in storytelling, preserving moments that might otherwise be overlooked and inviting viewers to slow down and reflect.

Toni’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Alabama; the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts; the African American Museum in Dallas, Texas; the Sojourner Truth Museum in Sacramento, California; Miles College; Jack Sinclair Gallery at The Art Change in Atlanta, Georgia; and the Urban Art Fair in Paris.

She is an award-winning artist whose work is held in private collections, including those of film producer BK Fulton and civil rights icon Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, as well as in the collection of Heather Watts, where the work is on view at The Juilliard School.

Balancing her studio practice alongside teaching and caregiving, Toni’s work reflects the layered realities often navigated by Black women artists. She holds a Bachelor of Art from Troy University and a master’s degree in art education from Auburn University at Montgomery.

Seay Twins Gallery is located on the Huntingdon College Green across from the Roland Student Center and the Gibbs Tennis Center.  Entrance and parking are located from the Narrow Lane Road entrance.
