President West Announces Appointments

Dear Huntingdon College Family,
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Dean of Students Fran Taylor to Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, effective June 1.
In mid-2016, Fran Taylor accepted my request to move from her role as Director of the Center for Career and Vocation to the position of Dean of Students. Over the course of several years, Fran had built the Center for Career and Vocation into a highly effective vehicle for assisting students in exploring the most basic question of life: “What am I called to be and do?” She worked tirelessly to counsel students individually about academic and career options that would enable them to live into their callings; she oversaw the creation of internships to link classroom with “real life” experience and future professional employment; she created on-campus professional job fairs with area professionals; and she advised students on the building and polishing of professional resumes. That experience, added to decades of work as a secondary school coach, teacher, counselor and administrator, prepared her uniquely to move into the Dean of Students position, where she has excelled in building relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff.
With the departure of Provost Chad Eggleston at the end of this month, I have decided to move the Office of Student Affairs to my direct supervision. I am looking forward to working directly with Vice President Taylor and her staff to build upon their excellent work during the previous academic year, and I am grateful both to her and Provost Eggleston for advancing the excellence of the Huntingdon student experience during the past academic year.
I am also pleased to announce the promotion of Su Ofe to Vice President for Marketing and Communications, effective June 1.
Su is a highly gifted, talented and creative professional who has poured her life into Huntingdon College for over 20 years. She works around the clock to promote Huntingdon in the community and to share news about the College and external constituencies. The Huntingdon College Magazine, the Huntingdon College website, and the various admission and other marketing materials created by Vice President Ofe are among the most beautiful and reader friendly in the higher education world. We have a tremendous story to tell about this “Home We Love So Well,” and Vice President Ofe knows how to tell it with style, love and conviction. She is a trusted advisor to me on all matters external and internal.
Vice President Ofe’s position will continue to be located administratively within the Office of College and Alumni Relations. Over the next year, she will be working with Senior Vice President Anthony Leigh, our new Provost Anna McEwan and me to develop and coordinate in a more effective manner the College’s cultural and events calendar. We do a good job at this College working together to align our various cultural programs and events with our admission, development and academic offerings, and I look forward to seeing an even more effective coordination unfold this year.
