Huntingdon Partners with Asbury Theological Seminary

Montgomery, AL – Huntingdon College celebrates a new partnership with Asbury Theological Seminary. The partnership provides Huntingdon religion graduates with application and admissions privileges, preferred scholarship opportunities, and the possibility of advanced standing for graduate coursework at Asbury Theological Seminary.

“We are excited to formalize the relationship between these two historic institutions,” said President Anthony Leigh of Huntingdon College. “For decades, persons who hold degrees from both institutions have been difference makers around the world. We look forward to that continued impact.”

Two graduating Huntingdon students will immediately benefit from the relationship. Dillon Bryars, senior from Bay Minette, Alabama, and Ashleigh Miller, senior from Daphne, Alabama have both been accepted to begin coursework at Asbury in the Fall. Bryars (Bachelor of Arts, Religion/History) will pursue the Master of Divinity. Miller (Bachelor of Arts, Psychology/Religion) will pursue the Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Huntingdon continues to work toward similar agreements with other graduate programs that prepare students for ministry. In addition, the College’s student-centered focus has led to agreements with graduate programs in other academic disciplines, offering the best possible outcomes for graduates.

“Huntingdon continues to be recognized as one of the South’s premier pre-professional colleges,” noted President Leigh. “Each year, our seniors are sought after by graduate schools and professional employers.  Creating pipelines of opportunity for our students as they move into their next chapter beyond Huntingdon is important to me and to the College.”

Huntingdon College is an institution with a rich liberal arts tradition that is grounded in the Judeo-Christian heritage of the United Methodist Church. The College embraces the development and growth of its students in faith, wisdom, and service, providing a solid foundation that will enable them to respond to the needs of today’s global and complex world. Founded in 1854, Huntingdon serves approximately 900 students in the traditional undergraduate program, providing an outstanding pre-professional education in an atmosphere that supports spiritual growth and inquiry.

Asbury Theological Seminary was founded in 1923 by H.C. Morrison with a class of three students and an audacious seal that said, “The Whole Bible for the Whole World.” The Seminary has more than 13,000 graduates serving in every time zone around the world through social justice initiatives, government, art, mission organizations, education and the church. Today, Asbury Theological Seminary enrolls more than 1,700 students, representing more than 80 denominations and 40 countries.
