Huntingdon Remembers Former First Lady, Barbara Jackson
Montgomery, AL – Huntingdon College has received notice of the passing of Mrs. Barbara May Hollard Jackson on October 15, 2026. Mrs. Jackson was the First Lady of Huntingdon from 1968 to 1993 as the wife of College’s 12th President, Dr. Allen Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson was known and loved while at Huntingdon College by students, faculty and staff. She was a dedicated mother of four children, supporter of Huntingdon College and the family’s commitment to civil rights.
“Wendy and I extend our condolences to the Jackson family as they celebrate and honor the life of Barbara Jackson,” shared Huntingdon President Anthony Leigh. “I know many alumni and friends of the College loved and admired Allen and Barbara Jackson. Barbara was part of the Huntingdon College family for 25 years, and her presence on our campus during those years made her an important part of the College’s story. We are grateful for the years she shared with this community and the many relationships she built along the way. We join the Huntingdon family in remembering Barbara and extending our prayers and sympathy to all who loved her.”
