Greek Leaders Participate in National Events to Advance Organizations
Montgomery, AL – During the year, the eight Greek campus organizations traveled across the country to various national events to advance their leadership and membership education as well as celebrate the individual chapters. Below are the updates from each fraternity and sorority.
Alpha Kappa Alpha
This summer, two members of the Rho Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, President MiracleGrace Williams ’26 and Membership Chair QuanTirroya Jackson ’27, attended their Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. The sisters were also accompanied by their Graduate Advisor, Tatia Brown
In addition to plenty of sisterhood time including a trip to Disneyland, the members were participants in the meetings and trainings to become ambassadors of the organization. The skills they learned will allow them to serve and advance the Rho Chi members and enhance the overall success of the chapter. At the end of the conference, MiracleGrace was recognized as a participant in the sorority’s internship program.
Alpha Omicron Pi
In June, President Blair Wyrosdick ’26 and Chapter Advisor Sarah Francis Carroll ’10, attended the biannual Alpha Omicron Pi International Convention in Palm Springs, California. During the festivities, the Sigma Delta Chapter was recognized with awards in community relations, membership recruitment, programming and enrichment, and membership integrity. At the Rose Ball, the final event of the convention, the chapter was also awarded the prestigious 2025 Chapter of Excellence Award.
When reflecting on her experience, Blair commented, “Attending AOII’s International Convention was an incredibly inspiring and educational experience. I had the opportunity to connect with sisters, learn from empowering leadership workshops, and gain insight into the values that guide AOII internationally. One of the biggest takeaways for me was being reminded that small intentional acts of sisterhood and service are so impactful and strengthen our sisterhood!”
Chi Omega
Over the summer break, Jordan Epstein ’28 attended the Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega. The program gave her opportunities to learn personal and professional leadership skills and education to expand her role in Chi Omega and her chapter’s growth. While at the event, she was able to research and learn more about the founding of the Huntingdon College Chapter in 1977. Jordan is excited to bring home her newfound education and information to the Lambda Kappa Chapter.
Kappa Alpha Psi
President Isaiah Matthews ’27 had the opportunity to attend the 87th Grand Chapter Meeting of Kappa Alpha Psi this summer in Phoenix, Arizona. The gathering included brothers from across the globe engaged in impactful business sessions, networking events, community engagement, and strategic planning for the fraternity. During his time at the Conclave, Isaiah was able to connect with undergraduate and alumni brothers in all walks of life including the national presidents of all Divine 9 organizations at a collective meeting discussing unity and progress.
Isaiah shared, “From this experience, I learned the value of collaboration—how diverse perspectives and open dialogue are critical to making meaningful decisions, both in fraternity leadership and in life. I’m excited to bring this mindset back to Huntingdon’s Greek life community by encouraging deeper collaboration, intentional planning, and a renewed focus on excellence, service, and legacy.”
Lambda Chi Alpha
In January, Lambda Chi Alpha President Aidan Cox ’27 and Chapter Advisor John Haynes ’18 attended the High Alpha Summit and the Neville Advisor’s College in Indianapolis, hosted by the fraternity. The weekend was filled with leadership, brotherhood, connection, and learning for collegiates and advisors to bring back to their chapters.
Lambda Chi Alpha had an impressive year to celebrate at the Summit. Their extensive philanthropy and community service along with their campus participation were certainly experiences to share with other members in the national organization.
Phi Mu
In January, four ladies from Phi Mu braved the snow and attended their fraternity’s Officer Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. The sisters included Preslie Knox ’27, Emmah Mayo ’27, Riley Rudick ’26, and Hannah Kross Emfinger ’26. While in attendance the sisters were able to learn office specific skills for chapter operations, membership, finance, programing, and leadership. They also learned how to utilize these skills not only for their jobs in Phi Mu but also for every member of their chapter. With over 800 collegiates in attendance, the connections with Phi Mus across the country offered the attendees valuable networking connections and friendships.
Sigma Nu
In July, Sigma Nu members, Jacob Dean ’27 and Will Slay ’26, attended Sigma Nu’s 71st Grand Chapter in San Antonio, Texas. While in attendance, the brothers were part of the fraternity’s business sessions to further the mission and future of the organization and elect the new High Council and Regent. In addition to participating in the fraternity’s business sessions as voting delegates, the members were also able to attend workshops and training courses for chapter growth and improvement, as well as networking with other members from across the country.
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Over the summer, Chapter President Hayden Smith ’27 attended the Sigma Phi Epsilon Ruck Leadership Institute in Richmond, Virginia, the birthplace of the fraternity in 1901. The Ruck Leadership Institute brought together brothers from across the nation for a rigorous and transformative experience. It pushed participants both mentally and physically while offering deep insights into leadership, personal growth, and chapter history.
From his experiences, Hayden will bring home the lessons he learned to strengthen the Alabama Zeta Chapter and enhance Greek life at Huntingdon College.
