• Michele Scharff Olson ’86 was a contributor in the Yahoo Health article, “The best exercise for menopause: build strength, protect your bones and even sleep better.”
• Glenda Atwell Allred ’91 was named the Alabama State Tourism Director by Governor Kay Ivey.
• Daniel McCarthy ’01 was named the University of South Alabama Athletics Directory in July 2026.
• Alton Gorum ‘04, a Captain for the Montgomery Police Department, was recognized as Supervisor of the Quarter.
• Laura Tyree Brelsford ’05 was promoted to Vice President for Strategic Communications and Alumni Engagement at Huntingdon College.
• Berrell Cobb ’13 is a licensed professional counselor with Monarch Counseling and Wellness in Starkville, Mississippi.
• Will Dake ’15 has been named the new physical education teacher at Wetumpka High School.
• Jai’Lyn Lover ’17 is serving as the Assistant Director of Professional Development and Behavior Intervention at Winston-Salem State University and the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Salem College While pursuing her Ed.D at UNC Chapel Hill.
• Morgan Clausell ’18 was named the Marketing Chair of the Mayor’s Young Professional Council Executive Board for 2026-2027.
• Mary Catherine Gaston ’19 was named a seventh-grade English teacher and the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Prattville Junior High School.
• Alyssa Singleterry ’19 was named the Assistant Softball Coach at Coastal Alabama Community College.
• Christopher Bishop ’21 was awarded a scholarship to the German Academic Exchange Service. He was hosted by the Chair of War Studies, Dr. Soenke Neitzel, at the University of Potsdam for ten months while he conducts research in several cities for his dissertation.
• Dylan Bohling ’22 was hired as the head golf coach and assistant basketball coach at Oak Mountain High School.
• Tucker Duke ’22 is a project manager for Arena Americas where he worked on the US Open golf tournament and the FIFA World Cup.
• Amy Szafran ’23 was promoted to Events and Marketing Coordinator at the AllSouth Appliance Group, Inc. in Birmingham, AL.
• Connor Recio ’24 has been named Coordinator of Athletic Operations and Events at Delta State University.
• Michael Storie ’24 was named the Student Success Advisor for the Huntingdon College Staton Center. He will continue his role as the Coordinator of New Student Orientation.
• Abbi Garrett ’25 and Sydney Sellers ’25 attended residency for their master’s in clinical mental health counseling at UWA.
• Whitt Spurlock ’25 has been named an eighth-grade teacher at Greenville Middle School.
• Duncan Welker ’25 is the Assistant Equipment Manager and Color Commentator for the Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey Team and the Public Address Announcer for the Bayou State Rougarou Hockey Team.
• Maggie Schaub ’26 was named the Public Service Chair for the Montgomery, AL chapter of the American Advertising Federation.

• Marie Tigner Fuller ’54 passed away on June 27, 2026, in West Point, Georgia.
• Anita McNair Singletary ’56 passed away on July 2, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.
• George “Snoozy” Jones ’58 passed away on July 6, 2026 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by family including a son, George F. Jones, Jr. ’81 and his wife, Virginia Jackson Jones ’82.
• William Terry Bullard ’62 passed away on July 28, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama.
• Charles Thomas Payne ’66 passed away on June 25, 2026 in Montgomery, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Lones Payne ’90, and his son, James Payne ’99.
